THE WHITSUNDAYS

The Whitsundays

The Whitsundays region is home to the famous Whitsunday Islands, an archipelago of 74 unique and pristine islands. Home to a dazzling section of the world heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays is adorned with incredible marinelife, lush island rainforests and boundless turquoise waters. With abundant hidden corners for smooth sailings, kaleidoscopic snorkelling and white-shore beach adventures, the Whitsundays are an utter paradise for tropical travellers and lovers of nature!

Whitehaven Beach

Found on the incredible Whitsunday Island, Whitehaven Beach is on every Whitsunday traveller’s bucket list, and it’s no wonder why! Whitehaven Beach is renowned for its 7km stretch of rare white silica sand, brought to Whitsunday Island by ancient ocean currents. These dreamy, luminescent shores are made of 98.9% silica, creating some of the whitest, softest sands in the world! While you’re in our corner of paradise, hop on a blissful sailing tour or catamaran trip and jet on out to Whitehaven to lounge on dazzling sands, float in crystal-clear bays and adventure to exclusive island beaches!

Hill Inlet

One of the most photographed and Instagrammed spots in the Whitsundays is none other than Hill Inlet Lookout. This incredible vantage point overlooks the swirling sands of Whitehaven contrasted against the azure ocean waters below… a natural mosaic truly incredible to behold. An absolutely special spot to snap some photos, or just take a moment to drink in these magical views… which due to everchanging currents are never twice the same! Keep an eye out for baby stingrays, lemon reef sharks and even Humpback whales between July and October. Access the lookout from the Hill Inlet Track from North Whitehaven Beach for a light, native bushwalk up to this unforgettable Whitsunday gem.

Great Barrier Reef

The Whitsunday region is home to the Great Barrier Reef, the largest reef ecosystem in the world! Visible from space, this mystical ecosystem makes up habitat for an abundance of animals, from manta rays to clownfish and green sea turtles to giant clams. Not to mention, the exceptionally large variety of both hard and soft corals. The biodiversity and wonder found in the fringing reefs and depths of this marvellously complex ecosystem create a colourful, bustling and breathtaking underwater haven for visitors to discover! Whether you’re an avid diver, novice snorkeller or prefer to stay dry, there are an extensive variety of ways for Whitsunday guests to explore the hidden corners and aquatic marvels of this expansive and kaleidoscopic piece of paradise!

Hamilton Island

The Whitsundays is also home to a few secluded, luxury resort islands such as Hamilton Island. With tropical rainforests of thriving giants, girt by pristine, bright blue oceans, it’s no wonder why Hamilton Island is a favourite destination for luxe island travellers and celebrities alike!
